…of the Future Policy Award’s worldwide recognition
The Future Policy Award of the World Future Council is the first prize to award future just policies on an international level. The first Future Policy Award was bestowed in 2009 to the Food Security Programme of the City of Belo Horizonte in Brazil. The Future Policy Award 2010 celebrated extraordinary policies for the preservation of biodiversity and was awarded at the 10th Meeting of the Parties of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Nagoya (Japan).
The Future Policy Award 2011 was presented to the best forest policies in New York on September 21st 2011.
…of our Campaign to End Crimes Against Future Generations
The concept of Crimes Against Future Generations was initiated by the WFC Future Justice Commission. As a result of WFC workshops and symposia, which were attended by high-ranking lawyers and judges of the International Courts based in The Hague, it has gained international legal and public attention. Recently the Campaign to End Crimes Against Future Generations has been launched, in order to raise awareness of this issue.
…of the African Renewable Energy Alliance
Since the foundation of the African Renewable Energy Alliance (AREA) in Ethiopia in October 2009 by the World Future Council, this vital member-driven network has grown steadily in quantity and quality and in January 2012 comprises of about 700 members from 70 countries. The network reinforces the exchange of expertise and thus improves the framework for promoting renewable energies in Africa.
…of the successful work of our Alliance for Renewable Energy in the United States
Establishing the Alliance for Renewable Energy, the World Future Council has created a successful coalition to spread renewable energies and contributed to the implementation of Feed-in Tariffs in several cities and states, such as the states of Vermont and Washington, as well as the cities of Gainsville (Florida) and Sacramento (California). In addition, the States of California, Indiana, Colorado, Arizona, Florida, New York, Oregon and Michigan have introduced Feed-in Tariff bills into their parliaments.

The WFC Report on the teachings of the world religions regarding our responsibility towards future generations has been debated by religious scientists and adherents of five world religions (Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism and Hinduism) from around the world.

Given the extraordinary support of citizens for the protection of future generations by policy-makers, the WFC has embarked on a Campaign for Ombudspersons for Future Generations on all governance levels.
In May 2012 at the next World Summit for Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, we will use a political window to push for the wide-spread installment of Ombudspersons for Future Generations.

Feed-In Tariff (FIT) laws to speed up renewable energy production have been introduced in several countries e.g. the UK, South Africa, Australia, several US states, among them California, as well as in Ontario (Canada), with WFC support.
